Bib knicks (nix, nicks, or shorts) are worn by many (but not all) experienced, long distance and competition level women riders for a reason - they are more comfortable. Bib shorts remove pressure on the waist and diaphragm, and can be cut shorter or longer up the torso to provide for summer or winter temperatures. They come in different fabrics for summer or winter biking and cycle touring, lightweight lycra for summer and thicker roubaix and super roubaix for winter. Bib knicks may be a unisex cut, or specifically cut for women, with different features in chamois shape, cut of paneling and style of halter.
