We recommend that riders of all types join Bicycle Victoria as an individual or a family. One of the reasons is the crash insurance provided with membership (another is the bike insurance - subject to conditions).
Bicycle Victoria offers all bike riding Australians, Australian-wide Bike Rider Crash insurance as part of their Membership package.
Their Member Insurance (Australia’s Premium Bike Crash Insurance) covers members when riding a bike and the following:

Bicycle Victoria membership insurance covers riders of a bicycle which is defined as an "instrument designed to be powered by pedals, including motors, not exceeding 200 watts or 50cc and includes any attached child seats and bicycle trailers".
