What does it
cost?
Printing costs varies
widely, depending on no required (higher quantity = lower price
per unit), no of colors, no of applications and size and
complexity of print. A simple one or two color logo and name on
the back of a jersey may cost around $20 ea for a low run (say
10 jerseys), while a 2 color screen printed jersey on a larger
print run (say 50 off) may cost $10 ea.

How do I get
a quote? How do I order?
There are just 5 simple steps;
|

Choose one of our jerseys. Check
out the styles and colors on this site.
Work out
how many of each garment you require.

|
Step 5 |
We
will let you know as soon as your order is complete. Your order
can be shipped to you (at your cost) or can be picked up at our
Carrum store.
|
|
Printing method
We will choose the most
appropriate printing method, based on your requirements. The printing method chosen
for your project depends on several factors:
- no of garments to be
printed
- complexity of print
required
- no of colors
- color and style of garment
to be printed on
- a single event? or to be
worn for more than a season?
Our printers will take these factors into
account before recommending a particular style of printing that
will suit your requirements and be most economical.

Method 1 |
Sublimation Printing
What does
it look like & what are its advantages/limitations?:
Sublimation printing is the method that
cycling jersey manufacturers choose to print with. They start
with a plain length of white 100% polyester fabric. The fabric
is printed using the sublimation technique, where the design is
printed on a substrate material (special paper). The ink
transfers from this substrate to the white fabric, while being
heated, dying the fabric in the process. The print is now a part
of the fabric. It is very durable. The printed fabric is cut and
sewn into jerseys.
While we cannot offer this process for low
print runs, we can offer the sublimation printing technique for
as few as one off!
Ideal for any size print runs.
PMS colors can be matched.
Print can only be applied to white areas of a
constructed jersey and cannot be applied across a zip or a seam.
Ideal method of printing for all sorts of
designs. This printing method gives you a durable and
professional result.
This printing method does not block any
moisture wicking fabric of your jersey.
How
much?:
This method of printing is surprisingly cost
effective. Expect to pay between $10 and $30 per jersey for the
application of up to 15 logos.
Simple techno description:
Your design is printed on a sheet of 'special
paper'. This paper is placed in position on your jersey. It is
heated to 190 degrees! The ink vaporises and 'sublimates'
through the jersey fabric, thus dying the fabric in the process.
All colors are printed simultaneously. This print method can
only be applied to white fabric. It is a durable method of
printing. Check out the club jersey (now discontinued - they are
selling out fast), white classique in fem or unisex designs or
the portsea in white/blue or white/red.

Method 2 |
Screen printing
What
does it look like & what are its advantages/limitations?:
Your logo and text is screen printed onto a
fully constructed garment. Screen printing gives you a
professional looking result that is long lasting. You will be
able to reproduce a huge variety of artwork.
Screen printing is not cost effective with
print runs under 20 units.
PMS (Pantone matching system) colors can be
matched.
Screen printing is great to reproduced complex logos
with shading and gradients of color.
Your design can be applied to any colored
jersey.
This printing method does not block any
moisture wicking fabric of your jersey.
How
much?:
Expect to pay between $5 and $15 per jersey
for the application of a logo front and back on a jersey. The
cost varies depending on number of printed jerseys ordered,
since there is a considerable cost involved in setting up screen
printing.
Simple techno description:
A 'screen' is made up for each color to be
printed. Your readymade jersey is placed on a printing
'carousel'. There may be 4 printing stations around the carousel
or more. At the first station, a one color layer of ink is
screen printed onto your jersey. Your jersey stays in position
and travels around the carousel, while being heated, in order to
dry the ink. At the next station, a new color of ink is applied.
This is repeated for up to 4 or 6 colors, depending on the size
of the carousel.

Method 3 |
Vinyl
heat press
What does
it look like & what are its advantages/limitations?:
Vinyl heat press is a great way to get your
simple logo/design and text on a fully constructed jersey. It
results in a vibrant and long lasting print.
Low print runs are possible - as few as one
off can be made.
PMS colors cannot be matched. Our printer will
select a color that is most similar to your logo color.
Your design can be applied to any colored
jersey.
This printing method does block moisture
wicking where print is applied. This print method involves less
vinyl than digital and solvent ink transfer prints, so inhibits
moisture wicking to a less degree.
How
much?:
Expect to pay between $10 and $30 per jersey
for the application of a logo and text front and back on a
jersey. The cost is reduced per jersey, when more jerseys are
ordered.
Simple techno description:
Your design is saved in the printers computer.
The computer guides a cutter around your design, on a thin sheet
of vinyl. Waste material is pulled away by hand from your
design, leaving your design stuck to a sheet of 'contact'. Your
design is heat pressed onto the jersey. Your jersey is complete!

Method 4 |
Digital laser transfer
What does
it look like & what are its advantages/limitations?:
A digital laser transfer print is a great way
to get your complex or many colored logo/design onto a
constructed jersey. Low print runs are possible - as few as one
off can be made.
Ideal for low print runs.
PMS colors can be matched.
Your design can be applied to any colored
jersey.
Ideal method of printing if you have lots of
sponsors for an event, which you want to display on your jersey.
This method of printing is not as durable as
other methods.
The design is printed onto a white vinyl,
which is then heat pressed onto the garment, hence it will have
a white back ground.
How
much?:
Expect to pay around $3 to $5 per logo,
depending on factors including no of jerseys and size of print.
Simple techno description:
Your design is laser printed on a sheet of
vinyl. Your design is hand cut (around the boundary of the
design) and heat pressed onto your garment. A digital laser
print will have a white background. Digital laser prints are
cost efficient and is often the best method of printing if you
have numerous sponsor logos to showoff.
|
|
Method 5 |
Solvent Ink transfer
What does
it look like & what are its advantages/limitations?:
Solvent ink transfer gives a brighter print
result than a digital laser transfer. It is a great way to get
your many colored or complex logos onto a constructed jersey.
Great too, if you have lots of logos to get on a jersey. This is
a more expensive process than digital laser transfer.
Ideal for small (5) to medium (25) print runs.
PMS colors can be matched.
Your design can be applied to any colored
jersey.
Ideal method of printing if you have lots of
sponsors for an event, which you want to display on your jersey.
This method of printing is more durable than
digital laser print, so is great if you want your jersey to
continue looking bright well after the event.
The design is printed onto a white vinyl,
which is then heat pressed onto the garment, hence it will have
a white back ground.
How
much?:
Expect to pay around $5 per logo, depending on
factors including no of jerseys and size of print. A minimum set
up fee is applicable.
Simple techno description:

Your design is hand cut (around the boundary of the design) and
heat pressed onto your garment. A solvent ink transfer print
will have a white background. Solvent ink transfer prints are
cost efficient, when printing a several garments. If you want
your jersey to continue looking good after lots of wear and
washing, this may be the best method of printing for you.
